The phenomenon of crypts is not only reported in the news, in blogs or social networks, but also in movies and TV series. In our selection, we considered the most interesting examples of such creativity — from detailed documentaries to thrillers and dramas.

Mr. Robot (2015)

An American TV series that immerses viewers in the life of security engineer Elliott Alderson. The main character is hired by a mysterious underground group of hackers to destroy the “one percent”.

The series shows many examples of crypt operation: from money laundering schemes using cryptocurrencies to the digital currency of the “evil corporation” E Corp — Ecoin. Bitcoin is also repeatedly mentioned in the series. Although the series does not focus entirely on the cryptosphere, it delves into issues such as blockchain security, as well as dissecting illegal crypto practices.

In particular, viewers are introduced to PiedPiperCoin — a digital coin created by the main characters of the series. The show details the world of digital assets and how cryptocurrency works. HBO turned to real-life cryptocurrency experts to develop the series, as the showrunners looked to real-life blockchain companies for inspiration.
